Mourners gathered for the funeral of the Lieutenant today.

A Westmeath member of the Air Corp who died in service "always had a fascination with the Defence Forces."

That's what mourners who gathered for the funeral mass of Lietuenant Conal Sheeran, from Athlone, heard at Our Lady's Queen of Peace Church in Coosan this afternoon.

Lieutenant Sheeran passed away at Casemount Aerodrome on Tuesday.

Those who gathered in the church this afternoon heard there was little surprise when he joined the Air Corp:
