Results Of Ballot To Reopen Tara Mines Due Today

Workers at the mine were temporarily laid off last summer.

A count is expected to get underway at 10am this morning of a ballot to reopen Tara Mines.

SIPTU is recommending its members accept proposals to get staff back to work at the mines in Meath.

The result of the ballot of the Tara Mines Group of Unions is expected at around 11.30am today.

SIPTU Sector Organiser John Regan is hopeful the firm will start re-hiring next week:
