We are a nation of potato lovers, but your favourite type may say a lot about you.

We Irish are a nation of potato lovers... but what does your favourite type of spud say about you?

A poll of 4,000 people by the Irish Sun found roast potatoes coming out on top as our favourite, followed by chips. 

Psychologists say if you like roast potatoes your personality is nurturing and caring, but you can be a bit salty in an argument. 

Those who prefer chips have a spontaneous side, and are always open to new experiences. 

Mash lovers find common ground with everyone they meet, while boiled potato fans are honest and reliable. 

For those who love the fancy French side dish of Dauphinoise - they're described as the epitome of class and elegance and work all day to please people.
