1 In 5 LGBT People In The Midlands Don't Feel Safe

That comes from the results of a survey by the Midlands LGBT+ Project.

1 in 5 members of the LGBT+ community in the Midlands don’t feel safe.

That's according to a new study by the Midlands LGBT+ Project, which also found over half of people surveyed have thought about leaving the region because of their identity.

More than four in ten ‘often’ or ‘always’ avoided holding hands with their partner in public due to fears of being assaulted, threatened or harassed.

Christina Fitzharris, Midlands LGBT+ Project Manager, says local businesses can make people feel more safe.
