Over 140 new schools have been included in the initiative

11 schools from across the midlands have been selected for an initiative to enhance children's creative and artistic skills.

The Arts Council have chosen 141 new schools who applied to the Creative Schools Initiative.

Each school is set to receive a grant and work with a professional Creative Associate to develop a Creative School Plan.

The new set includes 97 primary schools, 25 post-primary schools, 10 Youthreach centres and four special schools.

Five schools are from Offaly, four from Westmeath and two from Laois.
