The party's Deputy Leader Heather Humphreys has announced her intention to step aside.
18 of the 35 current sitting Fine Gael TDs will be stepping down at the conclusion of this Dáil, including the party's Deputy Leader Heather Humphreys.
It comes as speculation is mounting around the date of the next general election with the favoured date at the moment being Novermber 29th.
Despite this, a former Longford Westmeath TD and midlands Senator for Fine Gael Gabrielle McFadden says the new candidates for the party are a strong team and are ready to take on the bigger constituencies.
Ms McFadden says politics is all consuming and its normal for people to want to take a step back:
