589 people are being treated on trolleys at hospitals across the country today, an increase of 35 on yesterday.

24 people are waiting for a bed in the midlands, 9 in Portlaoise and 15 in Mullingar.

492 are waiting in emergency departments, while 97 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals.

University Hospital Limerick is the worst affected, with 84 people awaiting beds.

That's followed by 60 at Cork University Hospital and 49 at Letterkenny University Hospital.
