
Half of them are in Offaly.
34 midlands schools have been added to the DEIS programme by the Department of Education.
Schools in the programme can avail of a range of supports aimed at tackling disadvantages in the education system.
17 of the schools are in Offaly, with nine in Westmeath and eight in Laois. Nationally, 310 schools are being included.
The expansion means over 240,000 students from nearly 1,200 schools will benefit.
Education Minister Norma Foley says no school currently part of the programme will lose their status:
