It comes as a new RSA pilot project showcased the figures.
New findings from a RSA pilot project have found nearly half of people who used breathalyser kiosks mistakenly believed they were under the limit.
The six month pilot had people test themselves at these kiosks with over 24,000 tests being carried out.
Young men aged between 18 to 34 were most likely to underestimate their alcohol levels, with 64% of those who exceeded the legal blood alcohol limit saying they were going to drive.
It launched last year in Laois at Stradbally's Electric Picnic and Ratheniska's National Ploughing Championships, with more kiosks in Westmeath, Galway, Dublin and Cork.
