A former Offaly councillor is being remembered as an 'esteemed and remarkable man' as he is laid to rest.

Fianna Fáil's John Flanagan, from Tullamore, passed away on Thursday.

A trowel, golf ball, pipe and a family photo were brought to the altar this afternoon, recognising John's career in construction, his love of golf and his family, and the family's view of the business man.
