Amount Of Patients Waiting Over A Year For Appointments Declines

The number dropped by almost 90%.

The number of patients waiting over a year for an appointment at a midlands hospital has fallen by nearly 90%.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly also says the waiting list for an outpaitent appointment at Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore has fallen by 15%.

In Portlaoise, the number of people waiting over 12 months also fell, by over one fifth, while in Mullingar, the figure is 17%.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says it's very good news:

Laois Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowan says:

"Thanks to the enormous efforts of our healthcare workers, we have fewer patients waiting longer now than they did a year ago.

This follows on from a reduction in 2022, which was the first annual decrease in national hospital waiting lists since 2015 and Fianna Fáil is determined that fewer patients again will be waiting at the end of 2024."
