Athlone Castle Gets €1.8m In Funding

The works will improve accessibility and the usability of the space for visitors.

€1.81m in funding is being granted to develop and protect a Westmeath Castle.

The Public Realm Enhancement money will go towards upkeep, streetscape and enhancement works at Athlone castle. 

OPW Minister Kevin Boxer Moran believes the funding will be a big boost for local tourism, by improving accessibility and the usability around the building.
