Tullamore and Longford have been added to a list of towns where smokey coal is banned.
Climate Action Minister Eamon Ryan will extend the ban to another 13 towns and villages from September 1st.
If caught burning the fuel beyond that date, users could face a fine of between €250 and €1,000.
