Bidding War Over Derelict Former AIB Branch

Laois County Council are among the bidders.

A derelict former AIB branch has gone on the market for sale in Laois, sparking a bidding war.

Among the bidders are Laois County Council who previously looked to buy the property and the adjoining site through a Compulsory Purchase Order, as they felt it could be used by community groups.

Both properties are on the Derelict Sites Register and would be eligible for Heritage Grants as they're old Georgian style buildings.

Independent Councillor for Graguecullen/Portarlington Aidan Mullins says it will be an asset to the town once it's refurbished:
