Bird Reappearing In Ireland After 300 Years Spotted In The Midlands

It's thought to have gone extinct over here due to hunting.

Sightings have been reported in the midlands of a bird that was, up until recently, thought to be extinct in Ireland.

A pair of Common Cranes have been seen around Offaly, with another sighting in Tipperary. 

For the second year in a row it have been confirmed that the Common Crane chick has fledged in Ireland, following a 300 year absence. 

Lead Ecologist at Bord na Móna, Mark McCorry says the reason for its original extinction was most likely human hunting:
