Bishop Suggests People Stop Gathering For Funerals

He says it's impossible to resist the urge to give a mourner a handshake or hug.

The Bishop of Killaloe is suggesting people do not gather for funerals at all to avoid the spread of covid.

Bishop Fintan Monahan, who oversees part of Offaly, says more and more people have been gathering outside churches and at cemeteries in the last few weeks.

But he says the stakes are too high, with new strains of the virus so transmissible.

The Tullamore man believes it's too difficult for people resist the urge to shake hands or hug when paying respects:
