Books of Condolence have been opened at garda stations in the midlands, following the death of Detective Garda Colm Horkan.
The 49 year old was shot dead in Castlerea on Wednesday night, during an altercation with a man.
He's the 89th member of An Garda Síochána to be killed in the line of duty.
Books of Condolence have now been opened at Portlaoise, Tullamore, Birr and Abbeyleix Garda Stations.
Where possible and weather permitting, the books will be placed outside, and people are asked to bring their own pen and to observe social distancing and hand hygiene.
