The 'Just Transition' Commissioner is meeting Trade Union Reps in Offaly.
The head of the country's main trade union grouping is travelling to Offaly tomorrow, to discuss the future for Bord na Mona workers with 'Just Transition' Commissioner Kieran Mulvey.
ICTU general secretary Patricia King will meet him to examine how workers will cope with the planned closure of peat industries across the midlands.
Two peat-burning power stations at Shannonbridge and Lanesborough have to shut down by the end of the year.
Ms King says upwards of a thousand Bord na Móna and ESB workers will need to be re-skilled, and quickly.
