Calls For Cameras To Be Installed Across Rural Laois

It's to aid in crime reduction.

Calls are being made for more cameras to be installed in rural areas in Laois in an effort to reduce crime.

That's coming from Local Election Candidate in the Borris in Ossory Mountmellick district, Ollie Clooney, who want to see 'black spots' in the region prioritised.

He says cameras have been proven effective in lowering the number of robberies and could also help deter cases of illegal dumping.

The Independent rep says the cost of stopping dumping could outweigh the initial cost of the cameras:
