Calls On State To Provide Incentives For Taxi Drivers In Laois

A amount of taxi licenses fell by a tenth in Ireland.

The State is being urged to provide an incentive to encourage more taxi drivers in Laois.

The number of taxi licenses in the country fell by over a tenth between 2019 and 2024, while the drops in Offaly and Westmeath were 17% and 16%, respectively.

Independent Local Election Candidate in Portlaoise, Pauline Flanagan, says she's received a number of complaints about the drop while out canvassing.

She says the Government needs to step in:
