Putting clocks back one hour will only add to household energy costs, according to Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly.
His comments comes as winter time officially commenced at 2am this morning when clocks went back by one hour.
The Ireland South MEP Kelly is opposed to moving the time back an hour.
He says the EU Commission should adopt Plan B which is to shorten the winter time period to eight weeks:
