'Clear Consistent Policy Needed Regarding Tattoos On Gardaí'

That's according to a former detective from Westmeath.

Gardaí need to adapt a clear and consistent policy when it comes to tattoos, according to a former detective.

It comes after three trainee Gardaí were told that their position in the force was pending following their compliance the uniform and dress code.

One of those affected, who has a tattoo on their hand, said that they had left a career as a retail store manager and had gone through multiple assessments and interviews.

Ex-Detective Inspector, and Mullingar's Pat Marry, says that particular trainee is justified in his frustration:
