While on unannounced visits on the 30th and 31st of July, inspectors observed a culture of kindness and respect.
However, the centre was found to be non-compliant in four of 28 National Standards for the accommodation of people in the protection process.
During a walk through of the building, mould, green algae, and black staining was noted in bathrooms, bedrooms and hallways.
Food preparation and dining facilities in the centre did not meet the needs of some residents.
The report found sufficient cooking utensils and food storage facilities for fresh and frozen products had not been provided, creating a significant health and safety risk.
The Marian Hostel was also found to be non-compliant on staffing with the recruitment of a reception officer still in process.
The centre has since hired for that position, they have reviewed their cleaning programme, refurbishment work on all bathrooms has commenced, as has internal painting and decorating.
