Concerns Being Raised Over Active Travel Plans On Offaly Town

The plans are still in the developmental stage.

Concerns are being raised about the impact an Active Travel plan may have on local businesses in an Offaly town.

The plans for Daingean are still in the development stages with no proposals made yet.

So far the concept includes new footpaths from the GAA club to the main street, continued roadside along the Grand Canal Bridge and the installing of double yellow lines outside Scully's Centra and the relocating of a disabled parking space.

Independent Ireland councillor for Edenderry, Fergus McDonnell, says any negative effect on businesses in the town would be bad for the town itself:
