A new survey has found there's just one trainee solicitor in each of the midlands counties.
Access to justice may be at risk in the future, due to a lack of trainee solicitors outside of Irish cities.
That's according to Chairperson of the Law Society's Education Committee, Richard Hammond, following a survey of solicitors in Ireland.
The report shows there's just one trainee in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath - nine in ten trainees were concentrated in Dublin and Cork last year.
