Criminal Barristers Withdraw Services For A Second Day

Another day of strike action is planned for next week.

The criminal justice system ground to a halt again today with barristers withdrawing their services from courthouses across the country.

For the second time this month, no criminal trials, including at Longford District Court, will be heard today, with a third day of strike action planned for next week.

It's part of an effort to pressure the Government to restore their legal fees to pre-austerity era levels.

Outside the Criminal Courts of Justice, Chair of the Council of The Bar of Ireland, Sara Phelan, said lawyers are starting to lose patience with the lack of engagement on the issue:
