The Department of Integration is indicating the story of Asylum Seeker accommodation in Athlone may still have some turns left.
The State says they do "not intend to defend the planning issues" that saw a number of Westmeath councillors take a High Court case against the department.
However, a department spokesperson insists "other matters remain under discussion".
They say nearly 3,000 international protection applicants have not been offered accommodation over the course of 2024.
