150 men, women and children were previously set to be moved at the start of next month.
The Department of Integration has confirmed it's sought to allow a large group of Ukrainians stay in Carlow until the end of January.
The 150 men, women and children had been told they must vacate an accommodation centre by January 1st, due to fire safety concerns.
In a statement issued this afternoon, a spokesperson for the Department confirmed an extension to the contract would be possible, under certain conditions.
It said the extension would be granted if the conditions are met by the accommodation provider to ensure the safety of the people onsite.
