A man in his 70s was seriously injured in a shooting in the midlands last night.
It happened shortly before 8pm, when a number of shots were fired through the window of a house in a housing estate in Longford Town.
The area has been sealed off and investigations are underway.
The man was taken to Mullingar's Midland Regional Hospital with injuries described as 'serious but non-life threatening'.
