Crews from the Netherlands, France, Austria and Finland will be joining the Irish ESB workers today.

Over 8,000 homes across Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath remain without power after Storm Éowyn last Friday.

Emergency crews from the Netherlands, France, Austria and Finland are due to arrive from today to help the ESB restore electricity supply to homes and businesses across the country.

As of last night there were still 180,000 premises in Ireland without power since the stormy weather last Friday.

The highest number in the midlands is in Westmeath, with over 6,000 people still waiting for power to return.

In Offaly, the figure is currently at 1,787 and in Laois 112 people still have no power.

100,000 premises are still without water.

Margaret Attridge from Uisce Eireann says they may also have to rely on outside help:

There are growing calls for the Dáil to be recalled in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.

The Sinn Fein leader has written to the Taoiseach asking him to bring politicians into the Chamber.

The Dail is on a two week break to allow the new Ministers to bed into their roles.

Sinn Fein TD for Roscommon/Galway, Claire Kerrane, says it's unacceptable.

The Taoiseach has been met by frustrated residents in County Roscommon as he visits communities severely impacted by Storm Éowyn.

168,000 people remain without power due to the storm, and it could be next week before everyone is connected back to the grid.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin has been visiting Castlerea this afternoon.

There, he was confronted by local resident Rachel Connolly, who has been without power and water since last Friday:

Castlerea resident Julie Malone says she's lost around €1,000 worth of food in her fridge due to having no electricity:
