A Westmeath TD says the Minister of Education should activate emergency planning laws to build modular classrooms to accomodate autism classes in secondary school.

It follows a Westmeath primary school principal highlighting a severe shortage of school places for autistic children across the county.

One pupil from an autism class has already received a refusal letter despite being in an autism class since Junior Infants with refusal letters set to increase after Christmas.

Sinn Fein's Education Spokesperson and Longford-Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke says action needs to be taken swiftly:
