Fianna Fáil wants the government to suspend commercial rates for small and medium enterprises until next year.
A number of schemes have been put in place over the last couple of weeks, including banks offering low-interest-rate loans to help businesses through the Covid-19 emergency.
But Fianna Fáil say it is not enough, with shop owners worried local authorities will want rates paid as soon they are operating again.
