Fine Gael Confident In South Dublin Despite Loss Of Former TD

The Kilbeggan native will run in the election as an Independent.

The Public Expenditure Minister insists his party has a "strong ticket" in Dublin Bay South despite the loss of Westmeath's Kate O'Connell.

Fine Gael selected Councillor Emma Blain and Dublin Lord Mayor James Geoghan to run over the weekend.

This came after Kilbeggan woman, and former Fine Gael TD Kate O’Connell announced she would be running as an Independent.

Minister Pascal Donohoe was asked this afternoon if he is disappointed that she wasn’t running for the party again:
