Fine Gael Pushing To Retain TV Licence Fee Against Media Minister's Preference

However a midlands Senator is wary of the danger of giving RTE any more money.

Fine Gael wants the TV licence fee retained.

It looks like the charge will be kept along with being supplemented with exchequer funding.

This comes despite the Media Minister Catherine Martin having argued for Revenue to take over the responsibility of collected the charge.

The Cabinet will meet next week to discuss the plan to fund RTE into the future.
