The first of a three-part programme about the 71-year-old was aired last night.
John Gilligan is a "small little man, with a big ego."
That's how a former detective living in the midlands is describing the 71-year-old, after he struck a plea deal with Spanish prosecutors in relation to drug smuggling and weapons charges.
He was fined €14,000 and handed a 22-month suspended sentence in exchange for the plea.
The first of a three-part programme about Mr. Gilligan was aired on Virgin Media last night.
Speaking to Will Faulkner on Midlands Today, Author of Making a Detective and Mullingar's Pat Marry recalls the time he stopped a car in which the drug dealer was a passenger:
