The former journalist, and prime suspect of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, died suddenly yesterday.

A former detective says Gardaí should have launched a fresh investigation into the prime suspect of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

Former journalist Ian Bailey died suddenly in Bantry in Cork yesterday.

He was arrested twice in relation to the French film-maker's death, but never charged in Ireland, however he was found guilty in his absence of her murder by authorities in France.
