Hauliers And Farmers Seeking Working Hours Exception

It's so they can finish the grain harvest.

Hauliers and farmers are seeking an exception on the working hour restrictions to be able to finish the grain harvest. 

Ger Hyland, incoming President of the the Irish Road Haulage Association, says with the amount of rainfall this year there is only a small window to get the produce into storage otherwise it won't be fit for purpose. 

The owner of Hyland Transport in Rosenallis says while driver safety is paramount they only want the extra hours for a month:
