Hostile Parenting Increases Long-Term Mental Health Issues In Children

A new study finds frequently shouting at children and physical punishment have a lasting effect.

Hostile and harsh parenting could increase the chances of children developing long term mental health issues.

That's according to a new study, involving over 7,500 children at ages three, five and nine.

The research shows parenting styles that included isolating children, frequently shouting and physical punishment made it 1.5 times more likely a child would be considered high risk for developing poor mental health.
