The 22-year-old died in an attack on a music festival in Israel.
Tributes are being paid to Irish-Israeli woman Kim Damti, killed during a Hamas attack at a music festival in Israel.
Her Laois family confirmed last night that the 22 year old who had been unaccounted for, had died in the assault.
The Taoiseach said her death, and the deaths of more than a thousand other citizens of Israel and from around the world, was senseless and barbaric.
In a statement last night Tánaiste Micheál Martin said that “it is with immense sadness that he had learnt of Kim Damti’s death.
He added when news broke at the weekend that an Irish citizen was one of the many of hundreds missing after what he described as the repugnant terrorist attack by Hamas in Israel, we hoped against hope that she would be found safely.
The Defence Minister expressed his "heartfelt condolences" to Kim's family in Portlaoise and the Department of Foreign Affairs say they are providing consular assistance.
Kim's funeral will take place tomorrow at 5pm in Gedera.
Hila Fakliro survived Saturday's attack:
President Higgins described Kim's death, and the deaths of the other civilians who were targeted during the attack, as appalling.
Laois Offaly Fianna Fail TD Barry Cowen, knows Kim's mother Jennifer.
He says it's a devastating time for the family:
Her sister Laura described her as "an angel".
The death of Ms. Damti is being described as a "brutal murder and butchery."
The Jewish Representative Council of Ireland says it's mourning the tragic loss of the 22-year-old.
Member, Maurice Cohen, says Kim's death underscores the need for peace in the Middle-East:
