Tommy Mulligan believes people with MS or Parkinsons shouldn't have to travel to Dublin.
People living with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons or Motor Neuron Disease in Laois are travelling to Dublin or Cork for appointments.
That's according to Councillor Tommy Mulligan, who's calling for a neurology department to be established in Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Patients with MS require at least five hospital appointments per year, for blood tests and infusions.
Independent Councillor Mulligan says Portlaoise is in a good geographical location to have a neurology department:
