Gardaí say no injuries have been reported, and a man in his 30s was arrested in relation to the incident.
He's since been released, and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident, particularly those with camera footage, to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
