That was among the topics raised at the Irish Wheelchair Association's Local Election Hustings this week, where Local Election Candidates outlined their support for the 20,000 people in Laois living with a disability.

Fine Gael's Barry Walsh was among those who attended, and is calling for an increase in the number of adapted taxis available in Portlaoise.

He says a lack of accessible transport can impact the people who need it finding a way to work:
