That's the view of Political Analyst, Laois' Adrian Kavanagh, as a the latest opinion poll shows a decline for the main opposition party, bringing them to 23 percent support.
The Irish Times and Ipsos Behaviours and Attitudes poll shows Fine Gael jumped by four points to 23 percent, while Fianna Fáil remained steady at 20 percent.
Dr. Kavanagh says despite this, Fine Gael could struggle in Leinster due to a number of their representatives retiring:
