Laois man Declan Hanrahan believes a lack of prime cattle will be prevalent in the first six months of 2025.
The price of beef is expected to increase as supplies fail to meet demand.
The number of cows available for processing in the first half of the year is predicted to drop with the IFA reporting base prices of 6 euro a kilo being offered to farmers.
It's thought the price increase could be passed onto the consumer in supermarkets and restaurants.
