Breda Fitzpatrick is the first ever recipient of the council's award.
Laois County Council is naming Breda Fitzpatrick as the recipient of its new Centenarian Award, recognising residents who reach the age of 100.
The initiative, delivered through Age Friendly Laois, celebrates the lifetime contributions of centenarians to their families, communities and society.
Ms Fitzpatrick was born in 1926 in Kilmacow, Kilkenny, and she lived and worked in England before returning to settle in Wolfhill, Laois, where she raised seven children.
Recipients of the programme will receive a specially designed commemorative coin to mark the milestone.
