The Laois father and son, who passed away in Turkey, have been laid to rest this afternoon.
The tragic events, which lead to the death of a Laois father and son, in Turkey have left their families heartbroken and bewildered.
Monsignor John Byrne made the comments at the funeral of 36-old- year old Eoin Fitzpatrick and his boy Dylan.
They died after their scooter collided with a bus in the resort of Alanya last week, while on holidays with Dylan's older brother Cian and Eoin's partner Suzie and her children.
The classmates of Dylan, who was due to start 4th class at Scoil Bhride National School, Portlaoise, along with members of Portlaoise GAA formed a guard of honour for them as they arrived at St. Peter and Paul's church earlier today.
"Just Call My Name" was playing as Dylan's white coffin was brought to the alter to stand beside his dad's - where flowers spelt out the names Fitzy and Diggy.
A hurl and a Portlaoise jersey were among the items brought to the alter to remember Eoin's gift as a player, who at the age of 17 he made the senior team.
Monsignor John Byrne told the packed church of St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery that the ciotóg was a deadly free taker, who also loved his cars:
10-year-old Dylan was also remembered for his love of trains, his passion for swimming and his talent for art.
Monsignor Byrne told mourners he was a very affectionate child:
They will be laid to rest in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery this afternoon.
Claire Dowling described her son as a beautiful child with a kind heart, who loved the simple things in life.
She says it was Dylan's world and we were all just living in it:
