A Laois woman, who took her first swimming lesson at the age of 50, is set to swim the English channel for charity.
Fifty-Three year old Joan Fennelly along with four other friends will take part in the 21 mile relay next June.
Last year Joan swam 100km in 100 days - raising over £3,000 for charity in the process.
