LE Candidate Says All Rural Villages Should Avail Of Public Transport

He is making the call particularly for the benefit of the elderly and those with disabilities.

A Local Election Candidate in Westmeath wants to see "all rural villages" connected by public transport.

Running in the Athlone - Moate municpal district, Liam McDaniel, says something needs to be done for elederly residents and those living with disabilites.

He believes it would also be valuable to people who have business to do in more urban areas or who have hospital appointments to attend.

The Fianna Fáil rep says good work is already being done with a regular bus service between Athlone and Mullingar:
