Local Community Will Need to Fund 20% Of Domestic Violence Unit

Around 1 in 4 avail of the service are forced to seek refuge in another county.

Up to 80% of the funding for a new domestic violence centre in Laois could from the county's capital assistance scheme. 

The remaining 20% would then have to be fundraised by the local community. 

Around 400 women made contact with Laois Domestic Abuse last year.
