Longford Westmeath TD Calls For End To Courtroom Counsellor Notes

Sorca Clarke says personal counselling records should never be used against people in court.

The possibility of counselling notes being read out in a courtroom, is a barrier for victims of sexual assault coming forward.

That's according to Longford Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke, who is criticising the Government for going back on a commitment to eliminate the practice. 

Former Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee previously indicated she would advocate for a ban on the notes.

Sinn Féin's Deputy Clarke says this issue doesn't help when the number of victims coming forward is already low:
